Iranian union urges FIFA to ban opposition flags
The head of the Iranian Football Federation stated that FIFA must ensure that only the Iranian flag is displayed in the World Cup stadiums, amid concerns that members of the Iranian community in Los Angeles might raise opposition flags or that protesters could intervene during the matches. Potential protests are planned to include raising old flags and blowing whistles during the national anthem, while Tehran has warned it will stop the matches if anti-Islamic Republic symbols appear. These developments are part of the political and security tensions linked to Iran's participation in the World Cup.
