Ryanair faces probe over parent-child seating fees
Ryanair, the largest airline in Europe, is under investigation by the UK Competition Authority regarding its practice of charging families to ensure that children sit next to their parents. The investigation examines the legality of these charges, which amount to approximately $11 per flight. The airline applies these fees despite seat reservation policies being optional, except for children aged between two and 11, who must be accompanied by at least one parent. Ryanair insists that its policies comply with the law, while the authority aims to ensure there are no violations of consumer protection laws. The results of the investigation are expected within six months.
