The value of the Japanese yen rose to its highest level in nearly seven months against the dollar, supported by expectations of higher interest rates from the Bank of Japan in its upcoming September meeting. It reached approximately 152.94 yen, breaking below its lowest point since February. This roughly 4% increase over the month strengthens the likelihood of ending the "interest rate carry trade" strategy, which involved borrowing yen at low rates to invest in higher-yielding assets.
