Iraq-Iran Shib border fully shut
The Shib border crossing between Iraq and Iran has been completely closed, a step announced by media outlets in both Iraq and Iran. This decision was made at the request of the United States as part of an economic isolation plan against Iran. The Iraqi government will keep only two border crossings with Iran open, while no further details have been provided regarding which crossings will be closed or the timeline for implementing these new measures. This decision aims to restrict border communication between the two countries and reduce reliance on shared crossings.
