Chinese robot for blood flow management
A team of scientists in China has developed a small, flexible medical robot called "CiliaVine" that can control local blood flow within blood vessels. The robot, which is guided by magnetic tips, uses tiny cilia-like structures to manipulate its movement and direct medicines toward vessel walls or push them away, enabling more precise drug delivery and faster clot dissolution. Laboratory experiments have shown that the robot delivered a greater amount of medication to the vessel walls and that clot dissolution took 40 minutes using "tPA" with the robot, compared to 70 minutes without it. Additionally, it successfully detected cancer cells circulating in the blood of liver cancer patients and conducted successful trials on rabbits without causing tissue damage.
