Iraqi Human Rights Groups Report Execution in Iran
According to human rights reports, Iraqi citizen Ayoub Mohammed Nabil (28 years old) was executed by hanging in Rasht Central Prison, Iran, after being convicted of espionage for parties supported by Saudi Arabia. He denied the charges and was subjected to torture during his detention. He was arrested in August 2025 while working as a villa guard, and faced the death sentence issued by the Revolutionary Court. Reports indicate that he was subjected to psychological and physical torture before his execution. This case marks the third instance of an Iraqi being executed in Iran in 2026 on espionage charges, raising serious human rights concerns regarding the fairness of the trial procedures and the conditions of detention.
