The Public Relations Department of the National Social Security Fund has announced the fifth increase in the rates for medical consultations in Lebanon since June 2023, aiming to ensure the continued access of insured individuals to adequate healthcare. Dr. Mohammed Karky, the Director General of the Fund, announced that the fee for general practitioners' consultations has increased from 2.7 million Lebanese Lira to 3.2 million, and for specialists from 1.2 million to 2.5 million Lira, representing an increase of over 100% compared to pre-crisis levels. Karky urged doctors to adhere to the new rates, emphasizing that the right to health is a shared responsibility of the Fund, medical professionals, and service providers to ensure the protection of the health and social security of about one-third of the Lebanese population.
