India arrests leaders of the Cockroach Party amid crisis

The crisis in India is escalating as Delhi police arrest the leader of the "Cockroach" Party and other officials, ahead of an unauthorized protest called by the party to demand the resignation of the Election Commission chairman, Gyanish Kumar. These measures came after reports of irregularities during the review of voter registers, which opposition parties accuse of aiming to disqualify duplicate and ineligible voters in favor of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's party. Authorities imposed strict security measures, closed metro stations and internet services, and detained over 200 protesters in an attempt to prevent the demonstration, which is seen as an escalation in protests against the government and the Election Commission's interventions.
