Oil tankers in Strait of Hormuz

The article addresses the escalation of attacks on oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz, where two giant oil tankers have been hit by naval mine explosions, according to Iran, which links these attacks to the disabling of tracking devices during the ships’ passage. The figures indicate around 12 attacks on ships within a week, with most incidents concentrated in the southern route of the strait. Houthi militants and the Iranian military are employing various means such as drones, missiles, and naval mines to expand the scope of the threats, aiming to tighten control over maritime traffic and reduce the ability of countries to monitor vessels. Meanwhile, the United States is working to protect maritime navigation through surveillance operations and restricting military activities, all while avoiding escalation to prevent a prolonged war of attrition. Iranian threats continue to pose a significant concern for the security of global oil supplies.
