Egypt launches border security operation

During the past three months, the efforts of the Egyptian Army have focused on countering smuggling and illegal gold mining. They succeeded in apprehending 27 cases of random gold mining, resulting in the seizure of 350 tons of stones mixed with gold ore, 450 electricity generators, and 53 metal detectors. Additionally, 178 cases were recorded where 350 tons of suspicious stones and 805 vehicles used for smuggling and mining were seized. The operations also included the confiscation of large quantities of narcotics, the collection of two million Egyptian pounds in cash, and the thwarting of 213 attempted crossings aimed at smuggling migrants, leading to the return of more than 143,000 Sudanese nationals to their homeland. These measures come as part of a broad campaign to protect national resources and affirm Egypt's sovereignty over its territory.
