The Criminal Court of Sidi Amrane in Algeria sentenced a migrant from France to five years in prison for smuggling 1,084 mobile phones valued at 170 million dinars. He was convicted of colluding with other defendants in the crime. The court also imposed penalties on his accomplices, who are at large, including a 10-year prison sentence and a fine of 172 million dinars, as well as compensation of 12 million dinars to the customs authorities. This followed the illegal entry of the phones into the Port of Algiers, hidden inside a car from France. The case dates back to July 3, when the accused, in collusion with partners, smuggled the phones into the country.
