The 17th Conference of the African Association of Archaeology (PANAFA) was recently held in Maputo, Mozambique, from July 27 to 31, and it resulted in important outcomes for Algeria. These included the election of Professor Loutifa Sari as the President of the Association for a four-year term and the reappointment of Professor Eder Emara as Secretary-General for the 2026-2030 period. The association also decided to host the upcoming major meetings in Algeria, further strengthening the country's scientific standing in the field of archaeology both across Africa and internationally. The conference was distinguished by the wide participation of researchers from the University of Algiers 2 and emphasized Algeria’s role in international coordination of archaeological research. It featured research sessions on the interactions between climate changes and ancient societies, as well as the development of scientific collaboration with African and international institutions. This reflects the growing confidence in Algerian scientific research and Algeria's leading role in archaeological efforts across the continent.
