Eaton fire prompts porcelain recovery
Chelsea Bayouth, an artist from Silver Lake, creates porcelain sculptures inspired by her experiences of grief, spirituality, and motherhood. Her work gained emotional significance after losing her Altadena home and studio to a fire, which melted and fused materials into her recovered ceramics. Now, she crafts small, whimsical figures that serve as protective symbols for fire survivors and others dealing with loss, using elements like iron and sand to incorporate her personal history. Her art remains a form of spiritual processing and connection for both herself and her community.
