Sky's Gourmet Tacos closes after 34 years
Sky’s Gourmet Tacos, a well-known Black-owned restaurant on Pico Boulevard, will close permanently on August 15 after 34 years. The owner, Barbara Burrell, cites rising costs, increased competition from ghost kitchens, and declining foot traffic as reasons for the closure. She plans to shift the business toward catering, while continuing to offer signature dishes, including her popular shrimp tacos. The restaurant has been a significant cultural and culinary landmark in the area, but recent economic challenges have led to its final closure.
