Trump Claims Credit for Drug Price Drop
Prescription drug prices in the U.S. have declined by 0.8% in July and are down 3.1% over the past year, marking the largest annual decrease since 1963. President Trump credits his policies, including “most favored nation” drug deals and the TrumpRx website, for contributing to this decline. Experts note that policy changes like the Biden-era Medicare negotiations and market competition from generics and biosimilars are likely more significant factors influencing drug prices. Despite these reductions, consumers may not see immediate relief due to higher insurance premiums and out-of-pocket costs.
