Trump admin halts global visa appointments
The U.S. State Department has temporarily halted immigrant visa interviews at embassies and consulates worldwide to complete training on new public-charge evaluation guidelines, which assess if applicants might rely on public assistance. Over 100,000 visas have been revoked under the ongoing vetting program, with DUIs among the primary reasons for revocations. The training aims for consistent and thorough evaluations, but the move has caused uncertainty among applicants awaiting rescheduling. This policy shift is part of broader immigration restrictions pursued by the current administration.
