India’s Gen-Z Cockroach Protest Returns
The “Cockroach Party,” a viral internet movement in India, is returning for a second season to protest against the Electoral Commission, specifically targeting its head Gyanesh Kumar. Originating as a joke related to a remark by India’s chief justice, the movement gained momentum through protests, social media, and viral content, leading to the resignation of the education minister. The current protests aim to pressure the commission over voter list manipulations, but removing Kumar requires a complex parliamentary process, posing a significant challenge for the movement.
