3191 inspections find 178 violations to ensure market stability

The Ministry of Industry and Trade in Bahrain has confirmed its ongoing implementation of an intensive regulatory plan to enhance market stability and protect consumer rights. This is achieved through increased inspection activities on commercial operations, ensuring the availability of basic commodities, maintaining price transparency, and stopping practices that hinder competition or harm consumers. Between March 1 and July 31, 2026, a total of 3,191 diverse inspection visits were carried out, resulting in the detection of 178 violations. Of these, 176 were related to pricing, and two involved commercial fraud. Legal actions were taken against the offenders, including warnings, closures, and cases referred to the Public Prosecution, totaling 31 measures. Additionally, the Inspection Department responded to 494 consumer complaints and reports. Twenty-seven volunteers participated to support field campaigns, contributing approximately 8,938 volunteer hours. The ministry emphasized the continuation of campaigns to monitor the availability of goods and price stability. It also called on consumers to report any violations through various communication channels, aiming to foster market stability and protect consumer rights.
