Shrimp shortage raises prices to 6 dinars per kilo

The prices of fish in Bahraini markets have increased due to limited supply and a decline in fishing activities, especially after the ban on the "Kraf" method for catching shrimp, which has led to reduced quantities available in the market. The price of Bahraini shrimp has exceeded 4 dinars per kilogram, despite its small size. Meanwhile, Bahrain’s imports during the first five months of 2026 rose by 7.8%, reaching 269.2 tons, with the import value increasing by 67.7% to reach 244.3 thousand dinars. Fishers are calling for the regulation and oversight of fishing operations to protect marine resources and support the sector.
