Iran strikes Emirati tanker after oil flow pledge
Reports have indicated that Iran has told the United States it is willing to allow the maximum possible flow of oil and gas through the Strait of Hormuz, but Washington remains skeptical about implementing this commitment before verifying it practically. At the same time, Iran attacked a UAE oil tanker in the strait, blaming Israel for the incident, while Gulf countries condemned the attacks on transiting ships, describing them as a threat to maritime safety and regional security. Negotiations are ongoing between Iran and Oman regarding a new maritime route through the strait, but its reopening is contingent upon American compensation to Iran, amid ongoing security tensions and military escalation in the region.
