Sudan launches house-to-power plant project
The "Energy Bank" project in Sudan aims to transform homes into sources of electricity generation through renewable energy, with the goal of increasing supply to the national grid and reducing dependence on imported fuel. Implementation will proceed in three phases: starting with the residential sector, then moving to the education and production sectors, and finally covering rural areas and public services, with the potential to add thousands of megawatts over the next ten years. The project faces technical, financial, and social challenges, most notably the weak grid infrastructure and financing quality. However, the government promotes supportive policies and incentives to foster investment in clean energy and ensure stability in electricity supplies.
