The Global Fatwa Index revealed that the controversy surrounding the film "Barshama" and a statement made by one of the artists about the Companions of the Prophet topped the list of the most discussed religious topics in May. Public opinion was divided: some rejected the film, considering it an encroachment on sacred figures, while others supported it, viewing it as a legitimate social critique. Additionally, a fatwa banning online betting ranked third in widespread impact. Meanwhile, 68% of the public rejected the fatwa permitting animal sacrifice using birds. Religious authorities confirmed that their interest in emerging societal issues is growing, such as the proliferation of videos showcasing the use of sleeping pills to garner views.
