The Egyptian Customs Authority has announced the implementation of a new system for governing the import of mobile phones. This system allows residents abroad and tourists to inquire about and pay phone fees electronically through the "Telfoni" app, eliminating the need to visit customs terminals. The system includes an extension of the imported phone exemption period for personal use to 120 days from the date of phone entry and activation, with a 90-day window to register the phone and pay the fees after its first use in Egypt. These measures aim to regulate the entry of devices, reduce the operation of unregistered phones, and facilitate procedures through digital services.
