The Palestinian Red Crescent Society has inaugurated a field hospital in northern Gaza to meet the urgent healthcare needs in the area, which is suffering from a severe shortage of medical facilities and medical personnel due to the extensive damage caused by the ongoing war since October 2023. The hospital includes emergency, surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, and pediatrics departments, aiming to serve approximately 500,000 people. It is the sixth field facility established in the Gaza Strip with local control and resources, supported by international partners. This initiative comes in response to the difficult humanitarian situation and the increasing demand for healthcare, amidst the Palestinian government's ongoing efforts to strengthen the health sector despite restrictions and limited supplies of medicine and equipment.
