Greater Cairo restaurant occupancy under 65% in September
Reports indicate that restaurant occupancy rates in Greater Cairo during September are unlikely to exceed 65%, due to a large number of Arab tourists returning to their home countries with the start of the school year in Egypt, which begins on September 12. This has affected Egyptians' tendency to dine outside their homes. Occupancy rates were above 90% from July through the end of August, with Arab tourists making up the majority. It is expected that patronage will increase during weekends, especially on Fridays and Saturdays, as tourist activity diminishes.
