Syntcom: US Navy enforces Iran blockade
The US Central Command ("CentCom") confirms the ongoing imposition of a naval blockade on Iran, with intensified maritime efforts targeting ships entering or leaving Iranian ports. Since July, 84 ships have had their routes altered, and 3 ships have been disabled, as part of Washington's efforts to reduce Iran's oil exports and decrease its revenue. This comes amid escalating tensions between Washington and Tehran, with the United States seeking to tighten economic and military pressure on Iran, especially through the Strait of Hormuz, which has seen a sharp decline in Iranian oil exports—from around two million barrels per day in March to approximately 220,000 to 255,000 barrels in August—thereby increasing economic pressure on Iran and impacting global oil trade.
