The Giza Criminal Court sentenced the Imam of a mosque not affiliated with the Ministry of Awqaf to death by hanging after convicting him of kidnapping a child and assaulting him. The Imam exploited the father's trust, who had entrusted him with his son's Quran memorization, and took the child to his apartment under the pretext of retrieving something. There, he repeatedly assaulted him both inside the apartment and inside the mosque's restroom. The verdict comes after investigations revealed that the Imam exploited the child's young age and vulnerability, leading to the commission of a crime considered one of the most heinous cases of betrayal of trust and safety.
