Indonesia cancels Israel Houghton concert over support
Indonesia only barred the American singer Israel Houghton and his band from holding a concert due to their publicly expressed support for Israel. The concert was scheduled for October 24 in Jakarta as part of his "So the Whole World May Know 2026" tour. This decision came in response to his use of phrases supportive of Israel during previous performances, which raises sensitivity in a predominantly Muslim country that supports Palestine and lacks diplomatic relations with Israel. The government confirmed that the ban does not affect music or religious activities but aims to prevent the promotion of political support for Israel in Indonesia.
