U.S. Secretary of State on Hormuz Waterway
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio confirmed that the Strait of Hormuz is an international waterway over which no country has the right to impose tolls or transit fees, emphasizing that this aligns with international law. This statement comes after Iran closed the strait in June 2026 due to escalating tensions, before reopening it temporarily, which caused disruption to navigation in the region.
