Wasit power protests escalate
The Wasit Governorate witnessed protests and clashes due to the reduction in electricity supply hours. The local government demanded an increase in its share of electricity, considering that it is one of the electricity-producing provinces and is simultaneously bearing burdens on the grid. The tension resulted in injuries among the protesters, while the government indicated it might review the Zubaydiyah Thermal Power Plant issue as a escalation of the situation.
