Three oil tankers have been observed at the port of Basra preparing to load more than 5.3 million barrels of crude oil, as part of Iraq’s export operations through its southern ports. The port of Basra is the main hub for Iraqi oil exports, which constitute a significant portion of the country’s public revenues, heavily relying on oil exports to support the economy and the budget. Current export activities are focused on ensuring the continued movement of tankers and securing the necessary oil resources to meet economic needs.
