Iraq launches first ground satellite station
The Minister of Communications, Mustafa Sand, announced the launch of Iraq's first ground station for satellites (Teleport) in Baghdad, as a step to strengthen Iraq's digital sovereignty. The station will specialize in handling geostationary (GEO) satellites and represents a significant milestone in the space sovereignty project. It will be used by security institutions, government agencies, and national companies instead of relying on international infrastructure, with the aim of safeguarding national sovereignty. Further details about the next phase of the project are expected to be announced later.
