A group of volunteers led by Charlie Pomroy successfully attempted to introduce football to Nauru, which is the last country in the world that has neither an official national team nor played international matches. Although the sport was not very popular in the past and faced significant challenges due to difficult living conditions and environmental issues, there are ongoing efforts to build a sports system that promotes a healthy lifestyle and enhances the country's international identity. These efforts aim, in the long term, to establish a men's national team and elevate football on the island.
