Amman Municipality steps up anti-smoking efforts in 2026
The Greater Amman Municipality focused on implementing the "Amman Smoke-Free" initiative during the first eight months of 2026, in collaboration with Vital Strategies organization. The clinics provided services to 1,550 visitors, 418 of whom successfully quit smoking, bringing the total number of quitters since the clinics started to over 2,177. Additionally, the fourth clinic was opened in the municipality’s main building. The municipality is preparing to launch the 2026–2028 plan, which includes an electronic system for monitoring violations, smart smoke sensors, and school and community campaigns to promote a smoke-free environment.
