Greater Lebanon: Hope versus Politics
The article focuses on the importance of commemorating the founder of Greater Lebanon, Patriarch Elias Ilyas Howayek, and his role in establishing the modern Lebanese state. It highlights the utopian nature of his dream to create a united, sovereign homeland, and emphasizes that Lebanon does not need new projects, but rather the completion of its existing mission by the Lebanese through a united country, a single army, and a unified foreign policy. It also underscores that Lebanon’s history is filled with sacrifices, and that the real danger lies in external interventions that threaten its existence. Achieving unity and independence requires national awareness and a clear message to continue Howayek’s efforts to build a strong and independent state.
