Finance Minister Declares End of Free Checks
International policies, especially American ones, are increasingly focused on supporting Lebanon through direct investments and partnerships with the private sector rather than relying on traditional financial aid and grants. Lebanese Finance Minister Yasin Jaber confirmed that the upcoming phase will depend on implementing projects via long-term contracts in collaboration between private companies and the government, with the exception of reconstruction projects affected by major damages, which may require special support. The planned projects include sectors such as energy, transportation, and infrastructure, with an emphasis on enhancing Lebanon’s logistical location and positioning it as a regional hub—this, of course, contingent on political and security stability to attract investors and capitalize on the country’s geographical advantages.
