Uprising Against Drugs in Borj Barajan?
The article focuses on the escalating phenomenon of drug trafficking and distribution in the Bourj al-Barajneh camp, where it has become a serious security and social issue, linked to internal conflicts between drug traffickers and armed groups. Additionally, political and security factors are intertwined, hindering efforts to confront it. The camp has experienced an increase in smuggling and trade activities due to weakened security forces, leading to armed clashes and unfortunate incidents resulting in deaths and injuries. There are growing signs of involvement between Palestinian factions and Lebanese security agencies. Furthermore, the region has seen community initiatives and efforts to combat the phenomenon, such as forming committees and organizing activities aimed at fighting it, as well as implementing security measures and investigations to curb its spread. Despite previous attempts by the Palestinian community and the Lebanese army to bring about change, the ongoing challenge requires collaborative efforts. There are expectations that new popular uprisings may emerge to confront the widespread drug problem within the camps.
