Aoun Advocates Action on Agricultural Crisis
The article focused on President Joseph Aoun's efforts to support the Lebanese agricultural sector, especially the problem of apple crop glut due to weak market outlets abroad caused by global competition and high transportation costs. It emphasized the need for authorities to intervene in supporting farmers by facilitating export processes, reducing shipping costs, and working to open new markets, particularly in Egypt, Libya, Iraq, and Jordan, while working to overcome obstacles to export. It also stressed the importance of maintaining public schools, supporting education, and addressing developmental issues related to the waste dump in Akkar to ensure the mitigation of physical and environmental damages and assist the affected municipalities. The article makes clear that the government is moving toward taking tangible measures to support the agricultural sector and improve infrastructure and national services.
