Energy Ministry Announces September Generator Rates
The Ministry of Energy and Water has set the private electric generator rates for September 2026. The fair price is 52,840 Lebanese Lira per kilowatt-hour for subscribers in urban areas and lower altitudes under 700 meters, and 58,124 Lira for subscribers in villages and high-altitude areas above 700 meters. The rate is based on the price of a 20-liter diesel fuel bottle, which costs 2,675,217 Lira, including generator costs, taxes, and profit margins, while also taking into account the exchange rate fluctuations that reached 89,700 Lira in the parallel market. The ministry has called on generator owners to comply with installing meters and not to charge illegal fees or taxes. It also emphasized that it will continue to monitor and review the calculation to promote fairness in pricing.
