US adds warships and personnel amid Iran tensions
The United States plans to send an additional seven warships to the Middle East, including the aircraft carrier "Theodore Roosevelt" and three escort destroyers, in an effort to bolster forces in the region potentially to confront Iran. This follows warnings from President Donald Trump about the possible resumption of strikes against Iran after the November elections. These moves come amidst ongoing US-Iranian mediation efforts to reach an agreement that would allow free navigation through the Strait of Hormuz and the reopening of Iranian ports, amid persistent tensions and disagreements over Iran's nuclear activities and oil transport.
