US probes Iran's economic links
Reports indicate that Washington is expanding its economic campaign against Iran to include the railway and automotive sectors, along with related companies, in order to reduce Tehran’s revenues and logistical channels. This comes amid indirect talks with Qatar aimed at de-escalation and easing the blockade, as Washington focuses on companies involved in supplying Iran with components and logistical services through Turkey, Hong Kong, and East Asia. There is also the possibility of expanding secondary sanctions to increase pressure on companies continuing to do business with Iran. These measures are part of a broader policy of economic pressure intended to force Iran to negotiate over its nuclear program and the Strait of Hormuz, with the U.S. Treasury stressing ongoing efforts to cut off any economic arteries supporting the Tehran regime.
