Lebanese prisoners mark 23rd day of strike
Approximately 550 prisoners in Roumieh, Rayak, and the Baalbek prisons have been on a hunger strike, refusing food and medical treatment for the past 23 days. They are demanding the reactivation of the general amnesty law, which could have led to the release of some of those affected by it. Their critical health conditions have risen to 59 cases, with some transferred to hospitals, while others are no longer able to walk after the prolonged strike. The prisoners also raised banners expressing their fears that their strike might become a routine, amid increasing calls for the Constitutional Council to make a swift decision regarding the legal challenge and to reinstate the law.
