Israel ready to shoot down hijacked Fly Dubai plane
The "Jerusalem Post" reported that Israel was prepared to shoot down Fly Dubai flight 1073 during the alleged kidnapping attempt, despite more than 150 Israelis being on board. The plane was en route from Dubai to Tel Aviv when the co-pilot attacked the captain and attempted to down the aircraft, plunging it approximately 14,000 feet. Israeli forces responded by closing the airspace and dispatching fighter jets, while Saudi Arabia also summoned its fighters. Ultimately, the passengers and crew managed to overpower the co-pilot, and the flight made an emergency landing in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia, after which the passengers were eventually returned to Israel. Sources indicate that the incident nearly led to Israeli military intervention if investigations confirmed the aircraft had been hijacked, shedding light on the vulnerabilities of security measures and the security challenges in the region.
