Ministry issues 14 notices to generator owners
The Lebanese Ministry of Economy and Trade launched a comprehensive inspection campaign against private generator owners to address violations and ensure they adhere to the official pricing. The campaign resulted in the issuance of 14 enforcement notices in the north, Beirut, and its suburbs. Ten notices were issued in the north due to violations involving charges ranging from 70 cents to one dollar per kilowatt/hour, stemming from non-compliance with the official rate and a lack of meters on some generators. In Beirut and its suburbs, one generator's seizure was lifted after violations were rectified, while notices were issued to developers for failing to install meters or provide invoices. The campaign will continue to protect consumers' rights. The ministry confirmed its commitment to pursuing violators and taking legal action, and urged citizens to submit complaints via their apps or the hotline.
