Hormuz under Centcom surveillance oil flows near pre-war levels
The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed that commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz is ongoing and that oil flows are approaching pre-war levels, despite tensions with Iran. It clarified that more than 1.1 billion barrels of oil have passed through the waterway and that it has succeeded in clearing mines that Iran had planted in the strait, with its forces remaining present to monitor and secure navigation. CENTCOM also described the maritime blockade imposed on Iran as "firm and effective," noting cooperation with regional partners to ensure freedom of movement through the strategic Strait of Hormuz and Bab el-Mandeb. This region is considered crucial for the global transfer of oil and energy, and indicators suggest that oil flows are continuing normally despite security risks, as U.S. forces maintain surveillance of these routes to ensure the uninterrupted movement of vessels.
