Florida meeting tests election results
Within the article, Lebanese efforts have been focused on securing the date for the upcoming military meeting with Israel, scheduled between October 20 and 22 in Florida, amid concerns that it might be postponed after the Israeli elections and the American midterm elections. Lebanon is seeking to impose conditions related to a ceasefire, halting hostilities, stopping the destruction of towns, releasing prisoners, expanding the areas under Lebanese Army control, and ensuring that Hezbollah commits to refraining from responding to Israeli attacks. Lebanon is also relying on American pressure to push Israel to ease its reservations and to activate the implementation of the "Framework Agreement." The postponement of the meeting threatens security stalemate risks and fears of continued escalation, especially as the UNIFIL mission approaches its end, with calls from European and Arab countries for weapons to be exclusively held by the Lebanese state, amid Lebanon's weak response to international initiatives.
