The investigations into the incident involving the seizure of a massive quantity of explosives at the Dahr El-Baidar checkpoint—estimated to be over 500 to 750 kilograms of high-explosive materials such as TNT and C4—reveal a plot for a deliberate killing and bombing targeting an objective in Beirut. This was carried out using sophisticated, directed explosive techniques designed to maximize casualties. Sources indicate that the shipment was intended for the southern suburbs of Beirut and is believed to be part of an integrated security system. It is considered the most dangerous in years and signals an attempt by certain groups to demonstrate their capabilities and achieve their goals through assassinations and bombings similar to those that targeted March 14 leaders. Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea confirmed that investigations need to deepen to include all elements of the leadership. He called for cleansing the security agencies of individuals linked to "the Party" and emphasized the necessity of confronting the militia’s control over arms. He stressed that this operation opens up the security threat issue and raises concerns about efforts to rearrange the regional landscape.
