Cape-sized oil tanker explosion after mine collision
A massive oil tanker exploded south of the Strait of Hormuz after hitting an underwater mine, resulting in a fire in its engine room. The tanker, loaded with crude oil, was attempting to leave the strait after activating its systems in violation of regulations, which could lead the vessel to be considered hostile by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. The IRGC warned that it would respond decisively to any ships violating navigation rules in the area. Reports indicate that this is the third such incident in a single day, raising concerns about the ongoing tensions in the Strait of Hormuz.
