Netanyahu's video call with Iswanar shocks Israel
Former Israeli Chief of Staff Gadi Eisenkot posted a fake video showing Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu supposedly speaking on the phone with Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar and congratulating him. This was part of the electoral competition ahead of the upcoming Knesset elections. The Central Elections Committee asked Eisenkot’s party, supported by Netanyahu’s Likud Party, to correct or remove the video because it is not genuine, requiring him to add a clarification indicating that digital means were used to alter it. Netanyahu denies the validity of claims linking the clip to warnings about an imminent attack in October 2023, which he has categorically denied. This occurs amid intense political rivalry.
