Pyongyang unveils ZAM-2.0 torpedo with AI
North Korea has conducted a test of a new hypersonic torpedo system that uses artificial intelligence technologies to identify targets and guide the weapon, as part of its efforts to strengthen its naval military arsenal. The system, called "Zam-2.0," successfully passed underwater tests aimed at evaluating its technical upgrades and the efficiency of its propulsion and guidance systems, with the official agency confirming improvements in propulsion performance based on more than 180 prior tests conducted over the past five years. This test comes within the context of North Korea’s efforts to develop missile submarines and expand its missile capabilities, reflecting Pyongyang’s keen interest in incorporating artificial intelligence technologies to enhance surveillance and targeting abilities in its military systems.
